FDDI stands for footwear
design and development institute which was formulated in 1986 under the
auspices of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Government
of India realised that in order to support the footwear and leather industry in
India it was important to have skilful resources who could help grow the
industry and become number 1 in the field of leather and footwear industry.
FDDI has many campuses namely Fursatganj (Near Lucknow), Chennai, Kolkata,
Chhindwara, Rohtak, Jodhpur, Guna, Ankleshwar (Gujarat), Chandigarh, Hyderabad
& Patna with all the required facilities which impart education to student
in order to formulate their career in this field. Admission is open to both
Indian students as well as foreign nations which is done through an entrance
exam.
FDDI offers both undergraduate
as well as post graduate courses and has had a very good track record as
regards placements. Most of the students who have passed despite FDDI Degree Issue have been placed in various multinationals and have had a
lucrative career. Keeping in mind the vast demand FDDI is due to open few more
institutes so that it can cater to a large number of students who have an
interest in pursuing footwear design and development. It has been envisaged
that India is currently doing very well as regards export and imports of
leather goods and there is a large potential for exports, therefore Indian is
targeting to cater to the vast demand. So that it can achieve this target, FDDI wishes to provide more and more
training to students so that not only it is able to supersede China which is
currently number 1 but also is able to full fill its own demand along with
successful exports.
